The subject English can be studied in any teaching qualification degree course. General objectives of the degree course The degree course should convey the linguistic, didactic and scientific knowledge and skills for the desired teaching qualification in the subject of English. It deals with the language, literature, culture, society and history of the Anglophone region, in particular Great Britain, Ireland and the USA, as well as with the teaching and learning processes in English teaching. Tips for studying English The events generally take place at Holländisches Platz (HoPla). In order to be able to study the subject English, a language certificate is required prior to commencement of study. The language certificate can be provided by the average grade of the last four semesters before the school leaving certificate giving right of entry to higher education or by various language tests. Proof must be no more than two years old. Further information on the language requirements, please visit the Institute of English/American Studies website at Admission Requirements. There is also an IELTS test centre at the University of Kassel. Here you can provide proof of language skills.
