The degree course is aimed at graduates with a first professionally qualifying certificate of academic degree in degree programmes in the field of Educational Sciences, Social Education, Sociology or subject-related study programmes and equivalent to a Bachelor's degree amounting to 180 credits at a university or equivalent higher education institution in Germany or abroad.

Admission requirements

A subject related requirement is proof of theoretical foundations of social and educational sciences to the extent of 70 credit points, knowledge of general pedagogy to the extent of 5 credit points, qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical social research to the extent of 5 credit points, basic theoretical knowledge of pedagogy as well as practical experience in social pedagogical fields of activity in the form of an internship of at least 3 months or professional activity. The final grade should be "good" or better. A preliminary average grade of at least 2.3 is therefore required at the time of application. Furthermore, proof of at least one modern foreign language at level B1 is required. Proficiency in another foreign language (level A1) is recommended. International applicants must provide proof of German language proficiency at the level of the DSH examination (min. level 2), the TestDaF (TDN 4x4) or a recognised equivalent.
