In the Bachelor’s degree course in Anglophone Studies, you will acquire academic skills and knowledge of the English language and its teaching, literature and the cultures of English-speaking countries at the internationally recognised teaching and research institute of Gießen English Studies. By choosing your own focus area from the fields of linguistics or literature or media and cultural studies, you can customise your studies.

Admission requirements

For the degree course in Anglophone Studies, you must already meet language requirements in English level B1 (CEFR) at the time of enrolment. This must be proven as follows:

a) by means of a language certificate, level CEFR B1,
b) by passing an English examination at a university that verifiably certifies level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and is no older than two years,
c) other appropriate proof of English language proficiency at level CEFR B1.
