Annotation

The Bachelor’s degree Medical Education (BA) offers a range of study courses that takes into account the rising qualification requirements for healthcare professionals. Due to the concept of the degree programme, access to the public school system (preparatory service/traineeship) is possible after completion of the consecutive Master’s in Medical Education (M.Ed.). The objectives of the programme include subject-specific and interdisciplinary aspects in the areas of academic qualification, pedagogical professional competence, but also personality development and the ability for civic engagement.

Admission requirements

- special admission for working people according to Section 38 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG) in accordance with the Entrance Examination Regulations of the university of applied sciences and interview - completed vocational training for a healthcare or social services profession or a comparable academic degree - professional experience of generally two years in an occupation that requires formal training or comparable work as a teacher of vocational courses. List of approved vocational qualifications: - Geriatric care, healthcare and nursing care, paediatric care, midwives - Physicians of all disciplines - Medical assistant professions - Occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, motopaedist, massage therapist - Medical and dental assistants, dental technicians, pharmacy assistant, ambulance assistant, paramedic, podiatrist, dietician assistant - Domestic and family carers, carers for people with special educational needs, childcare workers / residential childcare workers, therapeutic educators
