A unique aspect of Coburg University of Applied Sciences is the field of "Human-Oriented Architecture and Design/Psychological Aesthetics". This involves the influence of built spaces and design on people’s health and well-being. Psychological and multidisciplinary insights into the effects of architecture and design are integrated into the design process. An orientation of built environments around human needs is a central precondition for sustainability and social cohesion. Through the Institut Mensch & Ästhetik, this field is linked with health promotion at the University of Applied Sciences and with the University of Bamberg.
