Annotation

Conflicts, rapid change and complex challenges shape societies in Europe and around the world. Good solutions for successful coexistence require diverse perspectives that take into account different cultural and social circumstances.

In the degree course "Culture and Society", you will gain in-depth knowledge and practical skills to understand the different histories, structures and ideas that underpin our societies and shape our contemporary cultural and social world. You will practice critical thinking and learn to form sound judgements about cultural and social processes.

For your studies, you will choose a disciplinary focus (major) in a field of Cultural Studies (Cultural History, Literary Studies, Social Sciences or Linguistics and Media Studies) as well as a supplementary subject (minor). These combination options allow you to tailor your degree programme to suit your interests and goals. Your major and minor will be accompanied by an intensive introductory phase, a practical module, a language module and a research module. If you wish, you can sharpen your international profile through in-depth foreign language training and stays abroad.

Irrespective of the major-minor combination you choose: thanks to small learning groups, a clear programme structure and personal counselling services, we support you individually and on an equal footing on your way to academic success.

As a graduate of the "Culture and Society" degree course, you will have the necessary knowledge of the cultural and social characteristics of modern societies to help shape a successful future.
