Description

Description

Project background:

Molecular spin qubits are an appealing platform for quantum information processing due to their potential for long coherence times and high chemical tunability. Transition metal-based complexes, in particular, offer rich spin properties that can be tailored through ligand design. This project aims to explore and optimize such molecules to enhance their performance as qubits through advanced characterization techniques.

Job description:

The candidate will synthesize novel transition metal-based complexes designed to exhibit desirable spin properties. They will perform detailed structural, magnetic and spectroscopic characterization, in particular using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). The project will be in collaboration with a team in the physics department for advancing novel resonator technologies.

The position is fully funded. It can start immediately and will last for 3 years, with a possible extension. Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of German federal states (Tarifvertrag für den Öffentlichen Dienst der Länder TV-L E13 50%).

Your profile:

I am looking for a highly motivated student, holding a MSc degree in Chemistry or similar, who is interested in coordination chemistry and likes to work in a multidisciplinary environment. Ideally, but not necessarily, the applicant will have experience with the synthesis of transition metal-based molecular magnets and/or magnetic characterization techniques.
