Description
The HSII offers a three-year PhD curriculum beginning in October each year. The program is supported by a wide range of collaborative research initiatives, including CRC1192, CRC1328, CRC1648, CRC1700, FOR2799, FOR2879, and FOR5068, which focus on infection, immunity, and inflammation. In addition, the immunological training is closely aligned with the research goals of the Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology (HCTI), where scientists and clinicians work in an interdisciplinary environment on autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases.

Admission Requirements
- An above-average MSc degree in biological sciences or equivalent (e.g., bioinformatics)
- Proof of English language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS), unless English is your native language or you have completed at least two years of education (during B.Sc./M.Sc. or equivalent studies) entirely in English
- Strong interest in infection, immunity, and inflammation
- Ability to work in a team and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research
- Proof of full immunization against measles
