Your responsibilities will encompass developing, implementing, and evaluating methods and tools in the realm of data science. Potential research areas include, but are not limited to, the quality of scientific data, the generation of synthetic data, and endeavors at the intersection of query processing and data privacy. Your work should not only exemplify rigorous computer science research but also facilitate tangible advancements through collaboration with users from diverse fields, such as energy systems, materials science, or robotics. We also intend to entrust you with some teaching responsibilities.

You are expected to possess expertise in databases and/or data analysis, along with fundamental programming skills or the aptitude to quickly acquire them. Essential qualifications include a passion for scientific research and a strong academic background, preferably a diploma or master's degree in computer science or a related field such as mathematics or physics. The application is also open to individuals currently employed in industry who seek to return to academia for a dissertation project. Kindly submit your application documents, including your CV, university transcripts with grades, and a concise explanation of your motivation for this specific position.

We offer:

  • a lot of free space for scientific development,
  • excellent personal guidance and support,
  • fascinating research topics with a lot of societal relevance,
  • an open-minded and highly collaborative research environment, with much freedom for cooperation,
  • opportunities for personal growth and further training leveraging the rich infrastructure at KIT, an institution that is both a university and a large-scale research facility,
  • an excellent living environment in an attractive, vibrant city in a beautiful region in Germany,
  • a salary that covers the living expenses in Germany well (TV-L 13), together with free university registration.

Your application must at least consist of a statement of motivation tailored to this specific offer (i.e., do not send text that is generic), university transcripts including grades and your CV. Please send everything as one pdf file, no larger than 5 MB. Please email your application to Prof. Klemens Böhm, klemens.boehm∂kit.edu.

We prefer to balance the number of employees (f/m/d). Therefore, we kindly ask female applicants to apply for this job. Recognized severely disabled persons will be preferred if they are equally qualified. For more information, please visit: www.kit.edu.
