Description
Description
We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate for a PhD thesis in bioorganic chemistry, focusing on the chemical synthesis of multi-fluorescence labelled DNA and PNA conjugates, conjugation chemistry, biophysical analysis via optical spectroscopy as well as the detection of nucleic acid in homogenous solution and in situ. The project also involves fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry and represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic research environment at interface of chemistry and biology. The position also includes tasks for scientific qualification (doctorate). If you are passionate about research and eager to develop your scientific expertise, we encourage you to apply!
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in organic/bioorganic chemistry and a keen interest in applying these skills to biological questions. This includes:
- A completed university degree in (bio)organic chemistry (Diploma, Master or equivalent, preferably with a very good grade)
- theoretical and practical experience in peptide chemistry, nucleic acid chemistry as well as knowledge of bioassays are beneficial
- Experience and knowledge in fluorescence spectroscopy/imaging is desired
- openness to interdisciplinary research projects in the field of natural sciences and high motivation for independent scientific work
- very good communication and teamwork skills
- very good command of written and spoken English
Please send your applications (including statement of purpose, cv, relevant certificates and a contact person for reference) within 6 weeks, and quoting reference number AN/097/25, to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Oliver Seitz (located: Brook-Taylor-Str. 2, Berlin-Adlershof), Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin or preferably in electronic form as a single PDF file to: seitzlab at chemie.hu-berlin.de
HU is seeking to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching, and specifically encourages qualified female scholars to apply.
