The Institute of Radiation Physics conducts research for states of matter under extreme conditions and in very small dimensions.

The Department of "High-field THz driven Phenomena" is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) Ultrafast CISStronics: Chiral-Induced Spin Selectivity effect on ultrashort timescales.

Your tasks

  • Designing and fabricating lithographically patterned metallic multilayer films and integrating them with organic molecules
  • Investigating the structural and optical properties of organic/inorganic hybrid systems
  • Exploration of magnetization and electron spin dynamics on ultrashort timescales
  • Proof-of-concept demonstration for energy-efficient, ultrafast spintronic emitters based on organic/inorganic hybrids

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of Physics, optics, Material sciences, Physical chemistry or related field
  • Experience with optical methods, nonlinear optics and short-pulsed laser systems
  • Expertise in the field of magnetism and/or terahertz-physics
  • Basic experience in scientific computational software and methods
  • Good and active communication skills as well as an independent way of working
  • Willingness to work across disciplines in diverse teams
  • Good written and oral language skills in English, knowledge of German is an advantage

Our offer
