At the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology (HIF), innovative technologies for the circulareconomy are developed to provide and use mineral and metal-bearing rawmaterials more efficiently and to recycle them in an environmentally friendly way.

The Group Pep2Rec is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) Development and characterization of palladium-binding peptides. 

Your tasks

  • Phage surface display experiments to identify palladium-binding peptides
  • Research and development of suitable methods and protocols based on the investigations
  • Characterization of the identified peptides using various biophysical and bioanalytical methods
  • Establishment of new protocols for interaction studies of peptides and metals in organic solvents
  • International publication and presentation of the results at specialist conferences, as well as preparation of a dissertation

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of Biology or biotechnology with a focus on molecular biology and microbiology or related field
  • Knowledge of molecular biology, microbiology, phage surface display and biophysical characterization of organometallic compounds
  • Creativity, Independent working style
  • Interdisciplinary thinking and working, ability to work in a team, willingness to cooperate
  • Workplace language is English (German is welcome, but not a requirement)
