• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Only students enrolled at University Bielefeld, Fachhochschule Bielefeld, Hochschule für Musik in Detmold and Technischen Hochschule OWL in Lemgo can apply for a room managed by the Studierendenwerk. PhD students may not apply for the Studierendenwerk residences.

  Application deadline
  Applications are not tied to dates and deadlines, but must be renewed after a maximum of one year, if the application is to be maintained.
  The Studierendenwerk keeps lists of applicants for each individual hall of residence. The order in which the first application is received is decisive.

  Application
  Please apply online.
  Exchange students must apply directly to the International Office of your institution. The international office manages a number of flats reserved for exchange students.

• Erasmus+ or cooperation students

  The International Office at Bielefeld University runs an accommodation service for Erasmus+ and other cooperation students which arranges room rentals in student residences run by the "Studierendenwerk Bielefeld" or in private houses and flatshares (information sheet on accommodation). If you want to take advantage of this service, you must indicate so in the online portal for cooperation students. You will receive the link to the online portal after your home university has nominated you at the International Office of Bielefeld University.

  Barrier-free access
  Depending on the capacity, students and trainees can also apply for places in the residential complexes. The contracts are awarded for a limited period of time.
  
  Applicants from more distant hometowns are given preference for accommodation.
