What role will green hydrogen play in securing the energy supply of the future? How can the new energy source help to achieve national and international climate targets? What has to be considered in the production and transport of green hydrogen? How are the legal frameworks shaped in Europe?

Such and similar relevant research questions are addressed by the new, innovative funding program "ERA Fellowships - Green Hydrogen", which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMBF). The aim of the program is to connect and train students, young scientists, experts and DAAD alumni/alumnae from Germany and the extended European Research Area (ERA) and to advance research on all steps of the green hydrogen value chain. In addition to awarding scholarships for German and international students and young scientists, working groups starting to collaborate on the following key topics:

• Production
• Transport and infrastructure
• Market stimulation (i.e. further development of the market for hydrogen)
• Cross-cutting issues (i.e. regulation, socio-economic and legal framework).

 

For active members of the Working Groups we offer funding for the organization of your own professional events and attending in advanced training courses as part of your professional development.

As a DAAD alumni, scientist and/or expert with expertise in the field of "Green Hydrogen", different roles in the program are open to you (depending on what you are currently doing professionally):

you will be invited to

• establish valuable professional contacts,
• contribute your expertise to the working groups and to benefit from the professional exchange,
• participate in the selection committees as reviewers for the fellowship program,
• supervise scholarship holders scientifically, and/or to act as an internship provider
• benefit from the program's funding options yourself (= as a fellow) or to draw the attention of your junior staff and international cooperation partners to the fellowships.
