Special features regarding the library

Locations: Central library system with 3 locations: Bielefeld campus university library with learning centre; University library Lampingstrasse; Minden campus university library; Stock: Book stock: 170,059; 404 printed journals; 18,269 e-journals; Approx. 85,000 e-books; Service: Partnership with Gütersloh city library, where books can be borrowed from the university library stock as well as reference-only stock of titles relevant to studies in the rooms specifically rented in the city library for Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences for use by student groups. The library locations in Bielefeld and Minden can also be used: Open approx. 73 h/week; Around 440 workstations partly with PC and 3D printer; targeted orient. Training courses as well as further support services and advice on academic (digital) working and learning

Foreign language center and courses

There is no foreign language centre. The foreign language training takes place as part of the degree courses and is integrated into the curricula. Students at universities of applied sciences have guest access to courses at the foreign language centre of the University of Bielefeld.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The University of Applied Sciences running group is made up of students, employees, teaching staff and alumni. In the summer semester, training will be held on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6:15pm, under sports science guidance, at Stadion Rußheide, Mühlenstraße 121 in Bielefeld. In winter, the group moves to different sports halls within Bielefeld. Some members of the running group also meet privately on Fridays at 2pm in front of the University of Applied Sciences building on the Bielefeld campus to enjoy nature during a run through Teutoburg Forest at a reduced pace. Sports: On the Bielefeld campus, university sports offers an extensive programme of over 60 sports for students of the University of Applied Sciences and the University. Many courses are free of charge for students. For financially costly sports, a fee will be due to cover the costs.
