The university offers its own sports programme. Jacobs University is a member of the General German University Sports Association. Jacobs University students can therefore take advantage of sports programmes from other universities, for example the extensive range of courses offered by the University of Bremen. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. Jacobs University offers an extensive range of sports for various disciplines and levels of performance. The sports programme is continually being developed. In 2012, a state-of-the-art Sports and Convention Centre was opened, equipped with sports halls, a gym and a rowing tank.
