Stock: The university library has a stock of 5.4 million books, 74.0000 electronic journals and 444,000 e-books and databases. ; Services: The university library is open daily until midnight. It offers a book courier service, German and international interlibrary loan and a wide-ranging training programme and operates the electronic copy delivery service FAUdok and the open access publisher FAU University Press.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Students attending the institution can participate in sports programmes of other Bavarian higher education institutions. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The programme is open to: Technische Hochschule Nürnberg (TH Nürnberg), neighbouring universities, others as guest students. The FAU has its own water sports centre on the large Lake Brombach in Pleinfeld offering a wide range of sailing courses (Uni Jolle, Kat) and other water sports in the summer. The University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) is an elite sports partner university of the General German University Sports Federation (adh). The programme is designed for popular sports. The range of activities is extremely diverse, with over 60 different types of sports/disciplines. Sports: Aikido, badminton, basketball, boxing, callisthenics, Capoeira, fencing, fitness, gym, frisbee, futsal, football, artistic gymnastics, handball, indoor cycling, jiu-jitsu, judo, martial arts, climbing, headis, kung fu, lacrosse, running and inline track, mixed martial arts, parkour and much more.
