Special features regarding the library

Locations: 7 sub-libraries offer 1,829 workspaces, 30 group work rooms, 24 carrels and two training rooms (20 or 30 seats) on weekdays until midnight, Saturdays until 10pm and Sundays until 7pm; Stock: 1.8 million print media; access to around 55,300 e-journals, 500 databases and some 780,000 e-books; Historic collections with approx. 30,000 prints and manuscripts. Collections focus on "Africa" and "Musical Theatre".; Services: In addition to digital sources of information and classic library stock, the university library offers a wide range of support services to the teaching and research community. Among other things, it operates the university bibliography ERef Bayreuth, the institutional open access repository EPub Bayreuth for the provision of full texts (articles, dissertations and book chapters), OJS Bayreuth as a platform for the publication of academic OA journals and the OA promotion fund of the university as well as a digitisation workshop. User training courses, bibliometric analyses and research data management are further main tasks.

Foreign language center and courses

There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Turkish, Arabic, Ancient Greek, Swahili, Korean, Hausa, Bambara.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. In addition, the general university sports programme also offers the possibility of participating in adh (German University Sports Federation) competitive events (Bavarian or German university championships, etc.). Participation is subject to fees. No other university offers a sports programme in Bayreuth. Highly diverse range of sport and fitness courses. One focus in the university sports programme is on Health & Fitness and on health-promoting sporting activities for employees only (UGM).
