Special features regarding teaching

Very good supervision of students by professors; Exercises in small groups (good teacher-student ratio); Wide range of laboratories (goal: link between theory and practice); Independent work on supervised projects; Industry seminar (presentations by industry representatives); Excursion week, industry day (company trade fair organised by students (project team) with presentations on various topics related to the everyday professional lives of engineers); Possibility of diverse projects (solar, embedded systems development, e-mobility, vehicle engine test bench, vehicle dynamics control, etc.).

Special features regarding the international orientation

Active exchange in the field of Mechanical Engineering with partner university (Tongji University, Shanghai) via CDHAW. Member of the university (currently still focused on the degree course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering) in the IGCHE consortium (5 partner universities in India). Social support for exchange students from the university's International Office (individual support, group excursions and events by exchange students for other members of the university). Students are brought up to the current level of knowledge in English (starting with CEF A2) and qualified to reach the CEF C1 level through suitable courses.

Special features regarding the equipment

Solar filling station; Wind turbines; E-mobility (1 Audi A6 currently being converted, 2 smaller test vehicles for development tasks and practical deployment); Modern embedded systems-development systems; Autonomous flying object (fixed wing) in the development phase; Motor Vehicle Competence Centre (vehicle engine test bench, vehicle roller test bench, vehicle dynamics control, 4 test vehicles (with combustion engine and electric engine) for development tasks and practical deployment); Extensive and modern laboratory equipment. Up-to-date computer pool equipment (PC pools are regularly upgraded).

Special features regarding research and development

Conversion of a standard vehicle to e-mobility; Development of effective energy management; Development of an autonomous flying object (fixed wing) together with research and industry partners; Research in the field of solar energy supply

Other special features

The FH Bingen with its well-maintained buildings has a very attractive location at the junction of the Rhine and the Nahe rivers. It is well-anchored in the region and offers a personal atmosphere for students on campus. The living situation is affordable. The library of the Hochschule Bingen is very well-stocked with books, journals and e-books. Supervised foreign language training, starting at the CEFR level A2 through to the CEFR level C1.
