Special features regarding teaching

Interdisciplinary methods and skills from the fields, Business Administration, Financial Mathematics, Financial Management, Data Analytics, Business Informatics and Energy and Resource Management; contents are examined from both a practical and a research perspective; basic training in all subject areas as part of the core courses; individual profiling afterwards as part of the elective courses; soft skill training for interdisciplinary skills, such as leadership, teamwork, self-reflection, presentation technique.

Special features regarding the international orientation

International orientation with a wide range of research collaborations around the world; internationally operating partner companies; possibility of a stay at a foreign partner university; opportunity for internships in an international context and abroad; courses (e.g. Financial Econometrics) and guest lectures (e.g. Nicolas Berente) held by foreign professors or practitioners; numerous cooperations and projects of the participating universities to organise stays abroad (Erasmus, TUM-Exchange, ...).

Special features regarding the equipment

All seminar rooms and lecture halls of the faculty are equipped with projectors. Some seminar rooms are equipped with SMART boards. In addition, students can use the computer hardware with the latest hardware and software (colour and black and white laser printers, scanners, burners, literature management software, Microsoft products, simulation software, online journal database, numerous online databases for literature research) at the universities of Augsburg, Bayreuth and from the Technical University of Munich.

Special features regarding research activities

In the course of seminar papers, "individual research" phases or final theses, students can work on questions from ongoing research projects in the department. For example, you have the opportunity to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the current state of research, to support the design and implementation of laboratory experiments and surveys, as well as to perform factor analysis and other methods of data analysis. Many students also initiate their own research projects under the scientific supervision of participating professors.

Support for founders

The department supports students with start-up projects. Current examples: Integreat: Founded in 2015 by Daniel Kehne as a FIM student while still studying under the scientific guidance of Prof. Krcmar; Celonis: Former FIM student Bastian Nominacher, along with the other founders of the Munich start-up, was awarded 1st place in the Federal President's Future Prize for their successful process mining software; Deepset: The startup founded by former FIM students is committed to the efficient application of NLP in practice.
