Special features regarding teaching

The faculty has always retained the Dipl.-Ing. degree. Despite the internationally recognised degree, the degree course is structured and modified according to the requirements of the Bologna Process and is therefore compatible with other universities across Europe. Despite an increase in student numbers, the ratio of students to teachers is good, so there is still room for independent learning above all during practicals. The degree courses in Civil Engineering are also offered as part-time distance learning, which enables flexible learning with regard to time and location.

Special features regarding the international orientation

In addition to distance learning degree courses which can be studied anywhere in the world (Bachelor's degree or Diplom postgraduate study), there has also been a Master's degree course taught in English since the 2010/11 winter semester (ACCESS - Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies). There is also the option of obtaining a double diploma [ESTP Paris, INSA Strasbourg, Trento (Italy)].

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty's labs are equipped with state of the art equipment, which enables excellent research. The students can use this equipment for their work.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty is represented in numerous international research projects and committees. The latest research findings are integrated into lectures and exercises. Students can cooperate in projects and be part of research. Special research into carbon concrete; This research output was awarded the research prize of the Federal President.

Support for founders

There is a separate university department.

Other special features

Concrete boat team (construction of concrete boats and regular regattas) as well as the "Campus-Navigator", which is unique in Germany.
