The focus is on English-language courses and stays at renowned partner universities in Europe, Asia and North and Latin America. The number and excellence of international students and teachers are growing continuously. Professors and staff complete programmes for the development of international competencies (lecturer mobility, Admins Go Global, etc.). Internationalisation is enshrined in the department's strategy and supported by the Vice-Dean for international affairs and a separate International Office.

The Department of Economics at the Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is one of the strongest research departments in Germany. The contact point also helps with matters related to start-up funding and offers support with applications for university-specific funding programmes for founders. Courses in the department prepare students specifically for an entrepreneurial start-up career. The ZOLLHOF as a digital business incubator represents the central hub for digital founders from science and business since the end of 2016.
