Special features regarding teaching

Since 1993, BTU has repeatedly been placed in the top group for Architecture in the CHE ranking. The course is based on the "Cottbus model": Architects study alongside civil engineers and city planners, in other words, with those who they will be working alongside later in life. The vertical study model (all of the subject areas are present in the Bachelor's degree course and the Master's degree course) ensures transparency. The excellent material resources (studio places, modelling workshop, media workshop, computer room with plotter area) enable intensive work.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The degree course offers a large number of cooperation partners for a stay abroad and international exchange. In addition, the three international study programmes "World Heritage Studies", "Heritage Conservation and Site Management" and "Urban Design" produce strong links with international students in the field of architecture, town planning and world heritage.

Special features regarding research activities

Strong synergies and interaction with ongoing research networks within the department (such as the DFG Research Training Group; DFG Priority Programme)

Support for founders

The start-up service is the first point of contact on the subject of knowledge- and technology-based spin-offs and successful start-ups. We support students from the three groups of students, academic staff and alumni. Our free service includes intensive and personal advice and support, precisely tailored qualification as well as support in applying for financial support (e.g. EXIST start-up grant). We also help promote awareness of the issues involved in business succession.
