Special features regarding teaching

The department makes jobs available to our students in the "Blue Box", a space covering 2,500 m². Seminars, lectures, corrections and guidance take place here. Students can also study alone or in groups here, holistic, interdisciplinary learning is made possible here.

Special features regarding the international orientation

From the start of the 2018 winter semester, an international module will be a mandatory part of the bachelor’s degree. This takes place through an Erasmus exchange or a supported work placement abroad. For those who stay at the university during the degree course, there are modules with international guest lecturers held in English. This guest lecturer programme has brought, in particular, Spanish, Italian and Dutch lecturers to our university in the last few years.

Support for founders

To provide you with the best possible support, we offer you an extensive range of advice and training – free of charge! We would thus like to encourage you to use all the offers of the Career Service in Engineering Sciences as you see fit – because only those who are well-informed and qualified can make informed decisions about their professional path!

Other special features

This eight-semester long Bachelor's degree course entitles graduates to be registered with the Chamber of Architects after acquiring two years of professional experience. This differentiates the course from six-semester Bachelor's degrees which do not fulfil the requirements for registration with the chamber. The university offers two consecutively structured Master's courses: "Architecture and Media Management" and "Architecture Project Development". The Master's degree course in "Urban Planning in NRW" is offered in cooperation with the universities of Dortmund, Cologne and Siegen. The degree courses are accredited and qualify for a doctorate.
