Special features regarding teaching

Full-time 3-semester and part-time 5-semester Master’s degree programmes. Part-time studies offer greater scope for activities in an enterprise, in research or with the family. With compulsory elective modules and project work, the degree programme is geared to individual technical and economic interests. An applied university project, practice projects in companies as well as research projects in the university can be carried out. The department offers excellently equipped laboratories and modern, well-equipped facilities in a fully renovated historical artillery barracks.

Special features regarding the international orientation

At the Minden Campus, there are regular informational events for students about "Work placements and studies abroad" by the Foreign Students Office. The International Office in Bielefeld is open to all students for guidance on short visits, work placements and foreign programmes. Special features regarding the equipment

Mechanical Engineering: Modern laboratories (CAD Laboratory with A0 plotter and 3D printer), machine hall with, among other things, electric plastic injection moulding machine, 3 +2 axis milling machining centre, universal test machine, digital microscope. Electrical Engineering: Modern laboratories measuring equipment. A prototype assembly including PCB milling machine, assembler and soldering device. Modern EMC laboratory for measuring emissions and interference immunity up to 8/6 GHz, measurement of conducted and field-guided variables. New building as a research object for intelligent buildings.

Special features regarding research and development

Research areas: Mechatronics for use in robotics and manufacturing machines; Intelligent building with new building as a research object; Decentralised, sustainable and safe energy concepts, EMC laboratory. The Minden Campus department is involved in application-oriented research and development. The aim is to generate research results that support the innovation activities of the partners and that can be transferred to application in the short term. Through close contact to industry partners, the scientists gain current knowledge from corporate practice.

The Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) actively supports all those interested in starting a business across all phases of the process. Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences promotes the active transfer of knowledge and thus professional self-employment as an essential career option for students and academic staff. Other special features

Regional companies support the Master’s degree programme by funding a foundation professorship. Our courses are designed for small groups, thereby guaranteeing an excellent teacher-student ratio. Our students value the small size of the green campus, the personal atmosphere and the individual guidance offered by professors, instructors and staff.
