The focus is also on European and Anglo-American law, so knowledge of English is very important. The Master of International Licensing Law provides in-depth knowledge of contract and case design from IT and IP Law as well as the associated questions of international, especially Anglo-American law. There are significant amounts of internationalisation covered.

One of the main areas of study is European and Anglo-American law. Accordingly, knowledge of English plays an important role. The Master's degree in International Licensing Law in particular contains significant internationalisation components. Guest lecturers from Brazil and China regularly teach in both courses. The internships or semesters abroad anchored in the course can be carried out worldwide within a wide-ranging network. There are research projects with Brazil and China.

The department for information law (i2r) is affiliated to the department. Current projects deal with software development, IT Marketing and Distribution in Brazil, IT and IP law in China and Germany. In cooperation with the "Seminars in the Castle", the institute has been carrying out the specialist attorney training "Specialist Lawyer for Information Technology" in Schwetzingen since October 2006. Once a year, the institute organises the Darmstadt Information Law Day as a conference for specialist audiences and students on current topics of Information Law.

Great importance is also attached to a particularly practical reference in the courses. In many cases, projects are carried out in cooperation with representatives from companies. The Institute for Information Law (i2r) is a research and development facility in the Faculty of Social Sciences, which emerged from the course of the same name and deals with the research of legal questions in the areas: IT and IP law; Data Protection; E-Commerce; Compliance. In cooperation with universities from China and Brazil: Legal comparison to IT and IP law issues. The Information Law Day, the institute's annual conference, has taken place annually since 2005.
