Special features regarding teaching

The Business Psychology degree courses at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) see themselves as psychological degree courses and therefore contain a comparatively high proportion of basic and applied psychological subjects and empirical methods (both quantitative and qualitative). In addition to the classic Business Psychology specialisations in "Work, Organisation and Personnel" and "Market, consumer and Media", the innovative specialisations on "environment and sustainability" can also be selected. The combination of two specialisation subjects gives the students an individual profile.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Business Psychology degree course cooperates in research and teaching with universities abroad, e.g. Norway, Sweden, England and Colombia. Professors teach at universities abroad and participate in international research initiatives. As part of these collaborations, students of Business Psychology also complete stays abroad, for example research internships and participation in specialist congresses.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz, Hochschule Luzern, Blekinge Instistute of Technology

Special features regarding the equipment

The course has: Computer laboratory: 36 PC workstations with SPSS and MaxQda; Unipark licence and Limesurvey for online surveys; Two experimental labs: Each with 4 PC workstations with SPSS and E-Prime for, for example, reaction time experiments, 2 pairs of virtual reality glasses; Test library with over 80 different test procedures (many in multiple versions); Collection of materials with a variety of instruments for examining organisational, team and work processes; Age simulation suits; Equipment and software for conducting interviews (dictation machines/transcription software/foot pedals)

Special features regarding research activities

The Business Psychology degree courses at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) have their own research institute (DIWiP - Darmstadt Institute for Business Psychology) with the possibility of publishing research results. Research collaborations exist with other universities, universities of applied sciences and research facilities. In the Business Psychology projects in the 4th-5th semester of the Bachelor's degree and in the 3rd study semester of the Master’s degree, students have the opportunity to actively participate in the ongoing research projects and research focus areas of the degree course and faculty.

Support for founders

The Career Centre at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences offers initial advice on starting a business and monthly start-up consultations.
