Special features regarding teaching

Our teaching staff bring complementary skills and teach comprehensive content from the fields of psychology, economics and methods. There are opportunities to specialise in the fields of Occupational, Organisational and Human Resource Psychology and Consumer Psychology. The scope of practice projects increases over the course of studies, which ensures that students acquire skills in a practice-oriented manner and build up their company contacts. Particular value is placed on the integration of current research findings into teaching and the implementation of innovative methods.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Our faculty has many international contacts at organisational and personnel levels. These partnerships thrive on the continuous exchange, particularly by way of visits and guest lectures. There are also joint projects with international companies. Business Psychology offers very good and flexible opportunities for completing a semester abroad (used by > 50% of students) and a work placement abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Faculty of Business and Economics offers a variety of courses with different requirements. This creates a wide range of possibilities in terms of technical equipment and subject-specific databases. As concerns technical equipment, we also benefit from the possibilities of the technical departments, particularly Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. Our technical equipment meets modern requirements and our databases (e.g. PsycArticles, PSYNDEX) are up-to-date, well-kept and comprehensive. Open learning and project rooms complement modern PC clusters.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty is distinguished by numerous research activities. Exemplary research projects in Business Psychology are the Federal Ministry of Education and Research-funded project Interruption Management in Digitally Framed Interaction Work (UMDIA), as well as the Boundary Management project funded by the EXPLOR programme. Exemplary research focus areas in the degree course include the areas of Corporate Health Management, Purchasing Decisions, Compatibility of Areas of Life, Intercultural Business Psychology, Change Management, Innovation Management.

Support for founders

To promote an entrepreneurial culture, Aalen University has established its own programme (Start-up Campus). In the faculty, all students benefit from the experience of the SME study area in the field of business start-ups. In practical terms, we promote start-ups together with the technical departments of the university and have developed the joint Master's in Business Development especially for entrepreneurial students. Together with our innovation centre and the AAcelerator of our region, we offer student start-ups space, equipment and advice for a successful start.

Other special features

Our focus is on (future) students. That’s why we invest in student support and individual advice and make time for students. The study programme is characterised by a large number of tutorials, exercises, personal contact, regular communication, feedback sessions and small group sizes. In addition, the faculty offers a variety of projects in the field of sustainability and various programmes on equality (e.g. Frauen gründen (women starting businesses), KarMen (career and mentoring for female students)).
