Special features regarding teaching

ESMT’s mission is to develop global, entrepreneurial leaders who act responsibly and respect the individual. Class sizes are kept small so that the development of the individual student is the focus. Class sizes are kept small so that the development of the individual student is the focus. Hence our programs focus on cross-functional perspectives to bridge departmental, legal, and cultural lines within a global organization. The ESMT degree programs develop leaders through an innovative approach to theory, practice, and personal development training.

Special features regarding the international orientation

ESMT is Germany's most international business school. The student bodies are between 70% and 95% international, and the faculty is comprised of 37 professors hailing from 19 countries. All degree programs are taught in English and include international modules: MIM: Internships and projects can be spent abroad, foreign language classes. Special features regarding the equipment

ESMT's campus is a noteworthy example of Germany's modern architectural heritage. The building is located in Berlin's center on the Museum Island, and housed the headquarters of the East German government until 1989. After reunification, it was used in varying functions and was the temporary office of the German chancellor from 1999 to 2001. It has since been renovated and transformed into one of Germany’s most modern educational centres with state of the art technological equipment, all the while keeping its historical identity.

Special features regarding research activities

Our faculty is encouraged to publish only in top journals or to engage with company executives on issues of strategic leadership.

Support for founders

Through the German Tech Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC), ESMT Berlin has an on-campus incubator facility. In addition to this, the US-accelerator Techstars is co-located with ESMT. Students have the option to join the Entrepreneurship Club, which holds strong connections with Berlin's very active start-up scene.
