Department of Biotechnology in the Technical Faculty: Small groups in the practical courses mean intensive supervision; teaching, especially in the Master's, is oriented towards own research projects, especially in the practical courses; participation in iGEM with international successes in recent years.

Special features regarding research activities
Project work, final theses and specialisation internships are always linked to current research projects. For years, students of biotechnology have participated in the international iGEM competition, which is also supervised by the faculty.
Other special features
Campus Brewery Bielefeld; the largest location in Germany of the Biotechnology Student Initiative; annual participation in the iGEM; the Department of Biotechnology is a member of the CeBiTec platform (Centre of Biotechnology); the department has a programme coordinator as a contact point and hub for all students of biotechnology.
