Special features regarding teaching

The department maintains a range of services to optimise study paths through a network to boost skills in Mathematics and enhance students' writing and information skills.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The International Academic Office of the FH Bielefeld advises students on study visits abroad and financing options and places them at foreign partner universities. The EU programme LEONARDO DA VINCI is also available to promote work placements of graduates in EU countries. Grants for visits abroad by students (e.g. ERASMUS), graduates, lecturers and non-academic employees are available from various programmes, including the education programmes of the European Union.

Special features regarding the equipment

State-of-the-art laboratory equipment and devices. In the degree course 800 sqm biotechnology laboratory of security level 1. Equipment: ten 2-litre bioreactors, 20-litre disposable wave bioreactor, 200L STR disposable bioreactor, 40L stainless steel bioreactor, 7 Äkta purifier, Äkta Avant, Äkta Pilot, Sartoflow Advanced, CE-MS, SPR, 2 Cubian XC, 3 Cedex, Casy, 4 autoclaves, ELISA Reader, Cellavista, 7 safety work benches, 6 incubators, MFSC, etc. The laboratory equipment is specially tailored to the requirements of small groups. Characteristic are also engineering-specific software tools for all students.

Special features regarding research and development

The department ensures that research projects are staffed with interdisciplinary positions and that the participating academics collaborate at an interdisciplinary level. The teaching staff are supported by the FIT team with the application process.

Other special features

With the new "Campus Bielefeld" (joint campus of FH Bielefeld and the Universität Bielefeld), a modern Centre of Science with top-quality infrastructure to provide optimum conditions for research and study has been established.
