Special features regarding teaching

Almost all lectures are complemented by an internship. Here the students learn in small groups (16 students) mostly on notebook/PC the practical application of the concepts introduced in the lecture. In pairs or also in medium-sized groups, projects are worked out, tasks that build on each other are implemented. The practical courses are usually held by the professors themselves. Lectures are mostly interactive, live-coding as well as lecture hall exercises are typical didactic elements.

Support for founders

The Dörte Wörner Innovation Award aims to encourage members of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences to develop business ideas in the field of information technology and thus to found companies. In addition, there are various events such as the night of the founders or a founders' meeting of the university.

Other special features

Not only the lectures but also the practicals and tutorials are personally supervised by the professors so that direct contact with the students which is based on partnership is ensured. In order to make the start of the studies easier, the departmental student organisation offers a first-semester induction over the course of several days. As part of this, you will not only be provided with essential information, but also meet new people. In the ideal scenario, this will lay the foundation for a learning group, which, in our experience, is essential for successful studies.
