Special features regarding teaching

Bachelor's degree course: A stay abroad from the 5th semester onwards makes sense. Master's degree course: A stay abroad is possible at any time. The ERASMUS programme of the TU BS offers various exchange opportunities with European universities, e.g. in Logrono, London, Linköping or on La Réunion. With the ISEP programme students apply for stays at non-European universities. Master's students with business degrees can apply for one-year residencies at the University of Omaha and University of Rhode Island with the opportunity to earn an MBA.

Special features regarding the equipment

Library of the Mathematical Institutes and University Library open 7 days a week; Mathematics own CIP pool for students with a total of 30 workstations; several university-wide CIP pools; online storage space to the extent of 100 GB per student; electronic journals library; subject-specific databases: In addition to freely available databases, MathSciNet, zBMATH and others are also available in the TU BS network.

Special features regarding research activities

The main areas of research in mathematics are computer algebra and algorithmic group theory, inverse problems and applications in industry, mathematics for data science, mathematical optimisation in logistics, energy and pharmaceuticals, mathematical physics, numerical linear algebra, partial differential equations, and stochastic processes, especially in relation to financial mathematics.

Support for founders

The TU Braunschweig offers central services for the promotion of business start-ups and technology transfer: These include start-up coaching and mentoring, "Gründungsinkubator" (fully equipped free workstations) as well as courses offered by the Chair of Entrepreneurship. Students benefit from consulting services offered by the regional start-up network, in which the TU BS participates; the innovation company iTUBS offers further support. The "Gründerstammtisch der Technologietransferstelle" (Founders' Round Table of the Technology Transfer Office) provides space for exchanging ideas with other founders.
