Special features regarding teaching

The department's focus in on educational science in teacher training. A unique feature are the BEd/MEd courses "Special Educational Support" with a focus on emotional, social development and learning. Teacher training courses in education for GyGe and BK and the vocational subject area of social education are unique as well. The Centre for Gender Studies warrants special mention here as well.

Special features regarding research activities

A number of projects are currently underway at the educational sciences institute which are financed by various bodies (federal ministries, foundations, etc.). These include projects on inclusion in schools, language education and language promotion, mentoring of students, sustainability in vocational education and training, integration of refugees, early cancellation of training contracts, etc. (see the Institute's website, under the Research tab). Of particular note are projects on the digital competence of pupils (Prof. Eickelmann, IEA-ICILS 2023 study).
