Special features regarding teaching

Interdisciplinary degree course with three majors in the Bachelor (Business Administration, Economics, Business Economics,) and five study profiles in the Master (Accounting & Finance, Management & Organisations, Entrepreneurship & Digitalization, Economics, Business and Economics (in English); focus on research-based learning.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Possibility to complete the Master's degree (with selected modules) entirely in English; some Bachelor's modules in English; faculty's own Erasmus coordination and cooperation contracts with 20 European universities; Cooperation with the "Insitut für Internationale Kommunikation e.V." and the opportunity to take the internationally recognised "Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)" on site at the university.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Faculty has five training pools with a total of 100 computer workstations, with two pools with a total of 35 computer workstations that make up a combined conference, presentation and training pool. In addition to the permanently available basic software, further software can also be provided or installed as required for particular events. Equipment of two PC pools in accordance with Educational Testing Service guidelines in order to conduct the "Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)". Databases such as WRDS, Dafne, Osiris, Compustat are available.

Special features regarding research activities

Business Administration: Specialisation in "Technology and Innovation"; Economics: "Ruhr Graduate School in Economics" and DFG Collaborative Research Centre SFB 823 "Statistics of non-linear dynamic processes".

Support for founders

With the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Transfer, headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, TU Dortmund has had an exceptional institution in the field of start-up qualification and advice as well as property rights and transfer since 2017. In 2019 - under the auspices of CET - the state of North Rhine-Westphalia's "Excellence Start-up Center.NRW" competition raised 14.2 million euros to further expand start-up funding.
