Extensive teaching programme with many options and specialisations; first-class method formation with promotion of analyst skills; extensive tutorial offers; close cooperation with non-university partners enables good insights into the practice of economic science activities; English-language summer school with international lecturers; offer of simulation games.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Very large ERASMUS programme with more than 20 partners in many European countries; Double programme with the University of East Anglia in Great Britain; overseas exchange programmes with Tongji University (Shanghai, China), Peking University HSBC Business School (Shenzhen, China) and the University of Wollongong (Wollongong, Australia); foreign lecturers come to Bochum as part of the Bochum International Spring & Summer School.

Special features regarding the equipment

All lecture halls are equipped with multimedia equipment; computer workstations with extensive software are available; the course management system allows easy access to course information; email accounts for all students; extensive business and company databases; partial video recordings of events, use of learning platforms such as Moodle and Blackboard.

Special features regarding research activities

The Faculty is expanding its research activities in entrepreneurship, innovation and transformation and has therefore set up a centre for these subjects (CEIT). There are also numerous research activities in the field of sustainability research.

Series of events "Fit for founding"; Foundation of "Centre for Entrepreneurship; Innovation and Transformation" with entrepreneurship education and research; promotion of regional start-ups; corresponding courses: Business start-up business game, General Management business game, Foundations of business start-ups, Merger & Acquisition with case study seminar, Development of business models in the financial industry, Business plan creation basics; Networking with actors in regional start-up activities; Start-up advice: Development of a student start-up consultancy.

Other special features

Since its inception (1965) the Faculty has pursued an integrated, economic-scientific approach in research and teaching – the Bochum model. This approach is reflected particularly in the Bachelor and Master programme “Management & Economics”.
