Special features regarding teaching

The degree courses offered in the Department of Chemistry at RWTH Aachen form the foundation for a modern inter-disciplinary education at the highest level with a clearly defined academic profile. By combining the traditional chemistry subjects in the four focus areas (see below), the department has a uniquely interdisciplinary learning atmosphere. Prospective teachers also learn didactic tools to be able to convey the fascination for Chemistry to pupils.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The RWTH is particularly characterised by many interdisciplinary and international projects and partnerships. These enable students to gain international experience already during their degree, e.g. in the context of research internships abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

As a subject with a significant focus on experimentation, chemistry requires the latest technical equipment. Up-to-date and internationally competitive teaching and research cannot be conducted without such equipment. Chemistry at RWTH Aachen can offer this thanks to consistent replacement and acquisition of the latest large-scale, scientific devices in the past years.

Support for founders

Since 2000, there is a start-up centre at RWTH Aachen to support students interested in starting a business. As part of the start-up region of Aachen, the start-up centre supports not only the start-up culture at RWTH Aachen University but also students interested in start-ups and scientists with a comprehensive range of consulting services.
