Special features regarding teaching

Teaching focuses on the challenges of the global economic area, however, also corresponds to the requirements of small and medium-sized companies (technical-economic cross-sectional tasks in personal union); Broad basic knowledge is taught (4-semester basic study stage); choice of specialisation in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; Because teaching is closely related to practice, students are prepared for the socialisation and work in future professional and academic fields and taught the skills for life-long learning.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Department is actively involved in the Erasmus programme. Most foreign students from outside the EU come from Jordan and China as a result of the consortium with the German-Jordanian University in Amman (Jordan) and the German University Hefei’s (DHH) membership in the consortium.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

German Jordanian University, Jordanien; University of Zilina, Slowakei; Universidad de Valladolid, Spanien.

Special features regarding the equipment

The focus on “state-of-the-art production technologies” represents an essential feature of the technical equipment of the department. The department is equipped with the latest systems, machines and software and hardware for computer-aided methods. Two industrial laboratories (innovative manufacturing processes and function-optimised lightweight construction) and the centre of excellence for materials science / renewable raw materials also offer links to current application-oriented research topics, in which companies (SMEs) in the region are also involved.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty covers a broad research landscape. Current research projects and research focus areas include: Project ZAKKI - central point of contact for innovative teaching and learning of interdisciplinary AI competences; Lernfabrik 4.0 – production and delivery networks; Innovative manufacturing processes (e.g. HyLight project/friction welding and finishing); Functionally Optimised Lightweight Construction; Water Treatment; Numerical Simulation; Systems Engineering & Automotive Lighting Technology; Alternative Drives

Support for founders

Since the 2016 summer semester, a new service has been available to students, graduates and researchers at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences: The Start-Up and Transfer Promotion project (or “gründet” to use its German short name) combines all start-up and transfer initiatives and is thus the central point of contact for potential entrepreneurs and researchers at the school.

Other special features

Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences offers an attractive campus ("Studying in Green Surroundings"), a wide range of support and support services ("Family-friendly university") and a gender-friendly environment. A degree course should become a valuable stage in life and promote professional skills as well as social skills. The close (also spatial) connection to the engineering sciences promotes interdisciplinary thinking and acting.
