Balanced education in Economics and Engineering, teaching of soft skills, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering branches of study, inter-disciplinary professional fields, incl. seminars and case studies/project work (Bachelor's) 9-week subject-related work placement (Bachelor's), 4-week technical stage I work placement (Bachelor's), theoretical or practical thesis, professional competence, continuation course in consecutive (e.g. Industrial Engineering) and non-consecutive Master's degree courses.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Cooperation agreements with 70 partner universities, of which 60 with Erasmus+; Approx. 200 Erasmus+ exchange places for students of the faculty, including Industrial Engineering degree courses (as of Sept. 2022); Advice provided by the International Office of the Faculty of Economics (courses taught in English particularly in the Master's degree course); American-African-European (AAE) summer and winter schools, English language course in the Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, constant expansion of the range of courses taught in English.

VWI Hochschulgruppe Chemnitz e.V.; The Faculty of Economics is part of the UN-supported initiative Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) with its six principles of purpose, value, method, research, partnership and dialogue. Since 2007, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been operating a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001 for its teaching and research services, which is monitored annually by DQS GmbH – German Society for the Certification of Management Systems – and recertified every 3 years.
