Integration of technical and business administration issues; International orientation through compulsory practice semester abroad (only purchasing, marketing and distribution), optional study semester abroad; broad training for flexibility in the labour market; Sound scientific basis for lifelong learning; use of simulation games and company simulations; The professors' wide-ranging professional experience is complemented by numerous experienced practitioners as lecturers; Close networking with local industry and leading companies in Germany.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Involvement of international visiting lecturers and international (also cross-continental) courses via conferencing technology; Case studies or projects enable and promote intercultural experience and language learning at the home university – gathering extensive international experience worldwide is possible for all students through individual learning agreements tailored to study progress as part of semesters abroad at one of the partner universities. It is possible to earn a double degree (France, Argentina).

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has a large number of different, well-equipped teaching labs (e.g. automation engineering, robotics, additive design and manufacturing lab, solar air conditioning, negotiation techniques, conferencing, lean management, big data lab, lab for product development, entrepreneurship garage, etc.). All lecture halls are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the faculty has a convenient information system for study organisation, communication and web-based training (InfoTools and ILIAS).

Special features regarding research activities

Good contacts with national and international non-university research institutions as well as with universities and universities of applied sciences; Own article series for the publication of results from research projects and students’ final theses; Numerous well-equipped lab and research areas; Research focuses: Globalisation, Energy Management and Technology, Big Data, Smart Services, Additive/Flexible Manufacturing, Robotics and AI, Product Development; Cross-faculty research activities.

Support for founders

The faculty has a broad network of companies and incubators in the field of entrepreneurship. Interested students and future business founders have access to an entrepreneurship garage and the X-Lab start-up lab to support start-ups. Compulsory elective subjects such as Design Thinking and Business Modelling are also offered to promote business start-ups.

Other special features

A wide range of support services for students with health problems. Access arrangements are firmly implemented in the Study and Examination Regulations. Support for students with children, such as a "Mobile Kids Box", virtual childcare programme "voiio" (parent-child room is planned), partnership with nurseries regarding the provision of nursery places. The Equal Opportunities Officer and the Equal Opportunities Commission provide support on issues relating to equal opportunities and diversity. "Master Plan 2030+" for the realisation of a climate-positive campus.
