Individual and intensive knowledge transfer in close contact with the teaching staff; good structure of the courses offered due to minimal overlapping in the range of compulsory modules; relatively small group sizes in seminars, exercises and practicals; intensive supervision for writing academic papers; the specialisations offered in higher study semesters are based on the profile of the "Resource University" (Geo, Material, Energy and Environment).

Close international cooperation of the individual institutes with companies and universities worldwide. Visits abroad may be organised for students through personal contact.

Special features regarding the equipment

Extensive facilities with test benches from laboratory to pilot scale; technical systems for application-oriented teaching and research areas; modern apparatus engineering; variety of software packages for construction, modelling and simulation. Experimental facilities for research and teaching in the university's teaching and research mining plant; shared use of high-quality devices and apparatus with the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg.
