Annotation

The inter-disciplinary Master's degree course brings together Theology and Cultural Studies: both disciplines tackle the construction of meaning within history and the present, and the principles and basic questions of life as an individual and within society. Issues of current cultural theory development are considered to the same extent as forms of construction of meaning in art or ethics, for example. A focus is placed on the examination of the interaction between culture and religion(s). With the "return of religion" in the post-modern era, new scientific challenges are faced which seem more urgent than ever for the understanding of contemporary culture and the design of peaceful coexistence. The completion of the degree course, which consists of the six modules Culture and Cultural Theory, Cultural History and Inter-Culturality, Religion and Religions, Society and Religion, Media and the Arts, Communication and Management as well as a specialisation module \t opens up the opportunity for doctoral studies and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate\; in accordance with this for the PhD programme on Migration Research and Intercultural Studies at the Universität Osnabrück. \t It broadly qualifies students through the combination of strongly theoretical and practice-oriented courses for a professional role in different cultural organisations and producers, in theological and church-based fields of work, including in the field of media, the independent education sector, associations and companies (for example, public relations, human resources management, cultural affairs), tourism, guidance and coaching.
