Overview and admission

Study Type

graduate

Admission semester

Summer and Winter Semester

Area of study

Mathematics

Annotation

The degree course is comprised of modules in Mathematics with reference to current research, too. In order to enable students to become acquainted with new non-mathematical fields independently and quickly, an integral part of the course is the study of one of the applied fields of Applied Systems Science, Business Administration, Chemistry, Cognitive Science, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Physics or Economics. Due to other choice and design options, such as the in-depth study of Mathematics, the focus of the degree course is, however, very flexible. The Master's degree opens up the opportunity to do a doctorate and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate and therefore the path to an academic career. The degree course also qualifies students for a wide professional spectrum because many areas of science, technology and economics have an increasingly mathematical nature to enable the precise formulation and modelling of their content and for the solution of their problems; it therefore qualifies students for fields in which analytical thinking, mathematical modelling or mathematical methods are required.
