Annotation

The Master's course deals with the relationship between the market, power and community as well as with the tension between these three dimensions. The focus here is on the normative principles of European integration, the analysis of the status quo and development prospects of the European Union. The same applies for the external relations of the European Union, where its role as a world market, world power and its relations to the world society are discussed controversially.The core programme, which comprises five subject-specific compulsory modules, clearly demonstrates how market, power and community are used as a point of orientation in analytical-descriptive studies and in political-normative concepts, in order to gain a better understanding of governance in Europe. The module structure also provides a freely electable programme spanning degree courses. A third component is provided by the qualifying area, which is dedicated to the additional acquisition and consolidation of vocational and research-based skills, and which is designed by both specialists as well as experienced professional experts. A compulsory research seminar then offers the option to complete smaller research projects and thus provides preparation for the Master's thesis.The Master's degree opens up the opportunity to do a doctorate and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate\; In accordance with this for the PhD programme on Migration Research and Intercultural Studies at the Universität Osnabrück.The degree course also qualifies students for a variety of demanding activities with a relation to Europe in and outside of Germany. This includes, for example, working in the EU Commission, in regional politics, in national and international non-governmental organisations, in private industry or in the press, PR and media.

Bachelor's degree in Politics or Social Science, European Studies, dual subject Bachelor's degree in Political Science or a comparable specialised qualification. With a motivation letter supporting the application, you can additionally prove your professional qualification, for example through research proximity, topicality and quality of the Bachelor's thesis, via research activities (internships) or study stays abroad or other achievements (publications, awards, distinctions). English language skills must be demonstrated at least to language level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). For foreign applicants, German language skills must be demonstrated at DSH-1 level in accordance with the German language test for admission to higher education for foreign study applicants (DSH).
