Annotation
The course focuses on urban and regional research, in the field of societal-environmental interactions, as well as in the field of migration research, namely from a regional, national and global perspective. The profile of the Master's degree course is application-related and research-oriented. Methodical and project skills as well as key competencies are also taught alongside subject-related qualifications. The broad methodical spectrum comprises both qualitative as well as quantitative methods including geoinformatics and remote sensing. In addition to the central compulsory courses, there are optional and optional required areas which permit individual specialisation. In project-based courses, theoretical knowledge and students' own experience in project management can be gained. A course project, in which the execution of scientific/empirical investigations are conducted, is an integral part of the course.The Master's degree opens up the opportunity to do a doctorate and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate.The degree course also qualifies students for professional activity in public administration, in consulting companies and various services and production companies. Subject areas in which economic and social geographers work successfully are economic development and regional policy, urban and regional planning, migration and cross-cultural relations and commerce, transport, tourism and property management.
Admission requirements
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Geography or a closely related subject. Also, proof of a command of English at language level B1 according to the CEFR and a sufficient command of German.
