Annotation
As an interdisciplinary science, business informatics combines business administration and computer science. The course of study conveys sound theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in both areas and deals with the application of information and communication technology methods to operational problems. At the University of Osnabrück, business information technology is located in the economic sciences. In addition to the original content in the field of Business Information Technology, the Bachelor's programme teaches study contents in the subjects of Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics and Law. The programme is practice-oriented. Courses, such as seminars or project work, are carried out in cooperation with partners from the field. The final dissertation at the end of the Bachelor's programme, which lasts two months, is also generally written in cooperation with companies. Graduates of the Bachelor's programme in Business Information Systems should understand the basic facts and concepts from the fields of business process management, business intelligence, modelling, general business administration, quantitative methods, practical computer science as well as civil, company and media law and their interdisciplinary interdependencies, be able to assess different international perspectives on business information systems, apply basic methods of business information systems, evaluate the applicability of different standard software to specific operational problems, use and classify different operational standard software, create IT solutions for operational problems, remember and apply basic techniques of scientific work. The Bachelor's degree qualifies students to enter a profession and for admission to a subject-related Master's course\; such as the Master's programme in Business Information Technology at the Osnabrück University.
