Annotation

The study of the subject Philosophy in the degree programme Teacher qualification at the level of grammar schools is oriented towards the requirements of the practice of teaching Philosophy at grammar schools. The programme will impart the necessary subject-specific and didactic basics necessary for the practice of the teaching profession at grammar schools and allow for first experiences in school teaching practice under academic guidance. This university education is intended to provide prospective teachers with job-related qualifications in order to analyse, plan, design and reflect pedagogical processes in teaching Philosophy lessons at school. Students receive a systematic overview of all important disciplines and epochs of philosophy. The focus is on contents of theoretical, practical philosophy, logic and the history of philosophy. In accordance with the research focus of the Institute, special emphasis is placed in teaching on the philosophy of the Enlightenment as well as on Kant's philosophy. In addition, students are given the opportunity to specialise in one subject area. Here, students can attend events that provide them with insights into existing research projects and thus introduce them to the current research discussion. In addition to teaching philosophical content, the aim is to encourage independent scientific work and to familiarise students with methods used in the humanities. A further important focus of the degree programme in Philosophy is the field of didactics, which is pursued in Marburg in the context of the aforementioned research focus. This directly benefits the didactic training. It is intended to prepare students for their future professional life and is therefore carried out in close cooperation with schools.
