Annotation
The Bachelor's degree programme "European Literatures" offers you a basic education in literary studies, in the course of which the theory and history of literature is studied from an intercultural and interdisciplinary perspective. In addition to an in-depth knowledge of two European literatures, which can be chosen from the range of subjects at Philipps-Universität, you will also acquire knowledge of European literary history and theory in interdisciplinary modules. The programme thus offers you a cultural-historical network that enables you to transfer between different literary, linguistic and cultural areas in Europe. The Bachelor's degree in "European Literatures" is an interdisciplinary course of study involving the literature subjects English Studies, German Studies, Classical Philology, Celtic Studies and Romance Philology from the departments of German and Art Studies and Foreign Language Philology at Philipps University. In addition to the interdisciplinary compulsory parts, in the Bachelor's programme European Literatures you acquire knowledge of individual European literature, language and cultural areas in two elective courses. From the elective courses offered by the university, you choose two literature subjects (e.g. Anglophone Literature, German Literature, Literature of Greek Antiquity, Celtic Literatures, French Literature/Italian Literature/Spanish Literature or Literature of Roman Antiquity), the first of which is to be studied in depth in its historical breadth.
