Major subject in combination Bachelor's degree course - only possible in combination with one or two minor subjects Standard period of study: 6 or 8 semesters (depending on combination) Further information on the structure of the combination Bachelor's degree course can be found here: In the major subject "Ancient Oriental Studies" you will receive a wide-ranging education in the source languages Akkadian and Sumerian and will study the decipherment and interpretation of the cuneiform script texts originating from the various ancient oriental cultures. In addition, you will explore the ancient cultures of the Near East, especially in the area of the present-day states of Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey, from the fourth to the first millennium BC. In this way, you will acquire an in-depth expertise in ancient studies. An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills (see ).
