General Linguistic Science
Target group
Graduates of a linguistic or philological degree course in English/American Studies, German Studies or Romance Studies.
Annotation
The course offers linguistic research and project work and particularly intensive support. The three philological departments of English, German and Romance Studies and the Mannheim-based Leibniz Institute for German Language are involved. It is therefore possible to focus on philology as well as topics on interaction and text, language acquisition and multilingualism, linguistic methodology or linguistic theories from different directions. The core of the course is a three-semester project module, the result of which is often a personal publication in a specialist journal. The course is perfect as a preparation for a career in linguistic research - however, many of our graduates also work in related areas such as corporate communication, market and opinion research, PR and public relations or marketing and consulting.
